Overview

Frost Rank ("we", "us") operates frostrank.com, a free suite of SEO tools. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, use our contact page or email hello@frostrank.com.

Information We Collect

Frost Rank does not require an account to use any tool on this site. Most tools — including the JSON-LD Schema Generator and Meta / OG Tag Generator — run entirely in your browser: the data you type into a tool's form is used to generate output on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or stored by us.

The Invoice Generator also auto-saves your draft invoice (including any logo you add) in your own browser's local storage, so it's still there when you return on the same device. That copy never leaves your device and is never sent to Frost Rank's server; clearing your browser's site data, or pressing "Reset" in the tool, deletes it.

One exception: tools that check a live URL you provide retrieve it through our server, since most websites block that kind of request when made directly from your browser. These are the Redirect Chain Checker, the HTTP Header Checker, and the optional URL-fetch features of the Robots.txt / Sitemap Validator, the HTML Formatter and the llms.txt Generator (including its sitemap import). We don't store or log the URL you enter or the content that's fetched back — it's returned directly to your browser and discarded. Pasting content into these tools directly, instead of fetching a URL, stays fully in your browser like every other tool.

Another exception: the IP Address Lookup tool sends the IP address or AS number you enter — or, if you leave it blank, your own apparent IP address as seen by our server — to third-party network registries to retrieve the lookup results. We briefly cache each result (up to 30 minutes) on our own server to avoid repeat lookups, but this isn't tied to your identity and isn't kept beyond that window.

Tool and guide pages have an optional feedback form where you can rate the page and leave a comment. If you submit it, we store your star rating, your comment, and the name and email you enter (both required to submit). We also store your IP address and browser user agent with that submission, used only to prevent spam and abuse, not to identify or track you across the site. This feedback is kept private for our own review and is never displayed publicly or sold or shared with third parties, beyond the reCAPTCHA and hosting infrastructure described below.

Blog posts have a comment form that works the same way and stores the same information, with one difference: comments are public. Once we approve a comment, your name, star rating, comment and the date you posted it are shown under that post for anyone to read. Your email address, IP address and user agent are never shown. If you'd like a published comment removed, contact us.

If you send a message through our contact page, the name, email address, subject and message you enter are emailed to us so we can read and reply to it. We don't add you to a mailing list or use your details for anything other than answering your message. The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA in the same way as the feedback form.

We sometimes share private project previews (such as website mockups) with clients through unlisted links under frostrank.com/p/. If you open one of those links, we log the date and time, your IP address, your approximate country (as determined by our network provider, Cloudflare) and your browser's user agent, so we can see when a shared preview has been viewed. This log is visible only to us, isn't used for advertising or shared with third parties, and is deleted when the preview project is deleted. These links aren't part of the public site and don't affect anyone who uses Frost Rank's tools.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded via Cloudflare Zaraz, to understand how visitors use Frost Rank — for example, which pages and tools are most visited. GA4 collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (city/country level), and your device and browser type. This data is sent to Google and handled under Google's Privacy Policy. GA4 may set cookies to distinguish visits. You can opt out of GA4 tracking with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Frost Rank is free to use, and advertising helps keep it that way. We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site. Here is what that means for you:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you — for example, based on the page you're reading rather than your browsing history.

Where the law requires it (for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), you will be asked for your consent before cookies are used for personalized ads, and you can change that choice at any time.

Cookies Used on This Site

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Frost Rank uses the following kinds:

  • Essential cookies — a session cookie and a security (XSRF) token that our server sets so forms like the feedback and contact forms work safely. They don't track you and expire within a few hours.
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google and its advertising partners through AdSense, as described above.
  • Spam-protection cookies — the feedback and contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which sets its own cookies and processes some interaction data to check you're not a bot. That's governed by Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the feedback and contact forms from working, but every tool on the site will keep working without them.

Third-Party Links

This site links out to third-party services such as LinkedIn, Upwork, and WhatsApp. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those sites — review their own policies before sharing information with them.

Your Rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or another region with data-protection laws, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you (for example, a feedback submission or blog comment tied to your name or email). To make a request, contact us through our contact page or email hello@frostrank.com, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children's Privacy

Frost Rank is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data Security

Because Frost Rank's tools don't collect or store the data you type into them, there's minimal data-at-rest tied to actually using a tool. Feedback form submissions (ratings, comments, and any name/email/IP/user agent stored with them, as described above) are kept in our database and are not publicly accessible. Messages sent through the contact form, and any information you voluntarily send us by email, are subject to the security practices of your and our email providers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
